Untitled (2021)
Inspired by Clapping Music (1989) by Steve Reich. This work transposes thoughts from music into visual art through ink stamps on paper. Here stamped shapes are reproduced over themselves and each other as rhythms are in music. This changes them from their singular forms and they coalesce to become compositions, forcing the shapes and lines to be differently encountered. They are interpreted; meanings are attributed to them, or physical forms extrapolated from them. We lose sight of each component and see each composition as a unique entity set apart on the miniature canvas upon which it is impressed.
